in the beginning...
my artistic leanings were encouraged from the get go. when my mom takes it back to 'in the day,' she likes to say she had trouble disciplining us for coloring someplace inappropriate or cutting the table cloth, etc., b/c they were expressions of our artistic talents (what a hippie :) ). my grandpa was a photographer and a designer and my mom is an artist and a designer.
and now…
i prefer natural light but adjust to meet the needs of my clients and artistic inspiration. i strive to make my portraits speak to the personalities of the people in them. i want a parent to look at my pictures years from now and remember exactly what their ‘all-grown up’ kids were like when they were ‘that age.’ i like to think of my pictures bringing up more than an image; i want the feeling of a special day, the sound of a toddler’s giggle, the baby smell of a newborn to spring up when looking back at the images i capture. un-posed, significant, caught moments make for the most beautiful, worthwhile pictures.
